James E. Veney is a professor emeritus of health policy and administration at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He taught courses in research methodology, evaluation methodology, statistics, and international health systems.

Textbook needs an overhaul and good editing.

This is probably one of the poorest statistics books I've had to use. One would think based on the title of the text it would be designed for professionals, but it is not. The directions on how to perform Excel functions are ambiguous. Some of the screenshots that are in the text are misleading and somewhat inaccurate. I often write step-by-step technical documentation with screenshots to clarify my points. Many of the screenshots in the text are confusing.
Purchase of a textbook such as this one should come with updated online content that guides students step-by-step how to perform the Excel functions. Understanding how to perform data analysis in Excel is critical and can help bolster one's career.

It was the worst text book I have ever used

Was required to order this book for a class I was taking. It was the worst text book I have ever used. They neglected to give you basic definitions and felt the need to explain processing in complex terminology. The writers would give a new definition, not clarify what it was and then go on for paragraphs explaining how you calculate to obtain the right answer. Most people in my class purchased other books to supplement. Someone said it is like a cookbook where they give you all the ingredients and process to make something but never tell you what you are making. THE BOOK IS ALSO OUT OF DATE! They use Excel 2007 so if you have a newer version, be prepared to spend a lot of time searching the internet.

Terrible book...better off with youtube and google

This book is terrible...worst ever! References MS Excel 2007, who uses excel 2007 if you have 2010 or 2013 version? Hard to follow if you have current excel versions. Some parts of the book are incorrect and my professor tell us every week what is incorrect in the book.
