About the Author

Bill Reger-Nash, EdD, is emeritus professor in the School of Public Health at West Virginia University. He has been a wellness professional for more than 30 years and has served as research coordinator for the Cardiac and Wellness Center of Wheeling Hospital; director of the Bayer Wellness Program in Wellsburg, West Virginia; director of wellness for the Ohio Valley Medical Center; and founding director of wellness for West Virginia University.

Reger-Nash has more than 10 first-author peer-reviewed publications and has presented his work in health promotion throughout the world. He has received numerous awards and distinctions, including being named among the 100 best minds by US News & World Report in 2004, the 2006 Ethel and Gerry Heebink Award for Distinguished State Service, and the 1996 Health Advocate of the Year Award presented by the State Health Education Council of West Virginia.

Gregory Juckett, MD, MPH, is a professor of family medicine at West Virginia University, Morgantown, where he provides clinical services for the WVU Health Service and also directs the University’s International Travel Clinic.�He received his medical degree from Pennsylvania State University College of Medicine at Hershey and a master’s degree in public health from West Virginia University.�He completed his family medicine residency at the Medical University of South Carolina, Charleston.�Dr. Juckett’s interests include tropical and travel medicine, dermatology, and cross-cultural health care.�In addition, Dr. Juckett has extensive international experience in Africa, Asia, Latin America, and the Pacific.

Meredith Smith Ludden, MS, MA, has master’s degrees in sport and exercise psychology and community counseling from West Virginia University. She has worked as a family and marriage therapist as well as a drug and alcohol counselor. She works for the State of New Mexico as a health educator to decrease the burden of chronic disease in the state. She and her husband, Sean, also own and operate a small farm that emphasizes sustainable and organic practices. In addition, Meredith is a certified yoga teacher. Her emphasis has been on whole-body wellness and helping her clients achieve this in the capacity that works for them.

About the Author
Peter Van den Bossche has been a Member of the Appellate Body of the World Trade Organization, the highest judicial body for international trade disputes, since 2009. He is also Professor of International Economic Law at Maastricht University, the Netherlands and visiting professor at the World Trade Institute, Berne; the College of Europe, Bruges; and the University of Barcelona. He is the author (with Werner Zdouc) of The Law and Policy of the World Trade Organization, 3rd edition (Cambridge, 2013).

Denise Pr�vost is Associate Professor in International Economic Law at Maastricht University. She has fifteen years' experience developing and teaching WTO law courses at undergraduate and postgraduate level for law and political science students both in the Netherlands and elsewhere. She has also developed and taught training modules on WTO law for government officials and other professionals.

Very, very enjoyable. I love Asimov and I love short short stories, so of course I devoured this book. I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 because a few too many of the stories were just set-ups for bad puns.

Less Than It Could Have Been

I have always believed that there is a line between the Fantasy and Science Fiction genre-a thin, blurred line perhaps, but a line nonetheless. Science Fiction is speculative fiction based on science fact, which may be concerned with space travel, environmental evolution, alien life forms etc.

Asimov's "100 Great Science Fiction Short Short Stories" includes genies, leprechauns, wizards, deals with the devil, and even magic fortune cookies. I think Isaac missed the boat, especially since he saw fit to produce a separate volume entitled, "100 Great Fantasy Short Short Stories". Hard-core Sci Fi fans, this book is not for you.

The anthology itself reads like a who's who of the science fiction (fantasy) legends of the 40s, 50s, 60's, and 70's. And although the reader may enjoy reading two or three stories by the same author (Asimov was not above including his own stories or stories about himself), there are a number of "short short" story greats noticeably absent-Simak, Brown, Del Rey, and Dick to name a few.

Although many of the stories are classic and will long be remembered after the final page is turned, the book falls short of what it could have been.

A Short Short Review

This is an excellent book. It runs the gamut of the science fiction genre; from jules verne to starwars, dragons to philosophy. It contains a cross section of literature and authors of both range and caliber rarely found. Many of its stories do not appear to be science fiction at first read; the only common thread among all the stories is the fact that, as Asimov puts in his introduction, "A very honed point." A must read.

excellent example of the essay form

Didion's collection of essays was recommended to me by writing instructors as an example of excellent essay writing. I found it to be just that. In the first third, she writes a series of remarkable essays about California in the late 1960s. The middle third contains personal essays. And the book finishes with a collection of essays about different places she's been - New York, Hartford, Hawaii, Sacramento.

What makes her writing most impressive is her masterful presentation of portraits, inserting herself just occasionally to remind the reader of who the photographer was, to inject humanity. She does an excellent job combining place and character and shows that long sentences can work. This book is useful both an as example to those who aspire to writing better essays and as a memorable voice from the 1960s.

About the Author

Andy Priestner manages Cambridge University’s pioneering FutureLib innovation programme, employing user experience and design thinking to develop new library services across the university. True love wins

I have to agree with everyone that has said this was a quick read. It is short but very sassy.
On the way to her wedding Kylie's maid of honor confesses that she has been sleeping with her soon to be husband. Needless to say Kylie doesn't go through with the wedding.
After a week of self pity her two girlfriends talk her into going to Vegas for a romance conference. Kylie has another plan in mind. While she is there, she is going to pitch her interior decorating ideas to the hotel owner. But first she is going to enjoy the masquerade ball being held for the romance conference. and if she happens to find a man to hook up with and forget the travesty of her almost marriage so much the better.
When she runs into Jake at the masquerade ball she decides he is just what she was looking for and decides to spend the night with him. Neither one of them reveal who they really are and this sets up the rest of the story.
When will Jake admit to her that he is the owner of the hotel and when he does will Kylie be able to forgive the lie after her whole wedding fiasco.
I found myself alternating between cheering for the two of them to be together and yelling at them for being so stupid to not admit who they were to each other so they could have the happily ever after.
I was given a copy in exchange for an honest review.

An entertaining love story by Dawn Chartier, that is not only enjoyable, but funny at times, as the reader is drawn into the world of sin city, Las Vegas itself!..............After discovering on her wedding day, that her millionaire fiance cheated on her, interior designer, Kylie Edwards, vowed not only to give up on men, but rich men! Against her protests, her best friends come up with a plan, by forcing Kylie to forget her troubles, have fun, and what's a better place to achieve that purpose? Vegas! With a business appointment, to meet the CEO and owner of the Masquerade Hotel anyway, why not? She may even land the account, for her decorating ideas, of remodeling one of the most famous hotels in Las Vegas. However, little did she know, that her life was about to take a different direction, as she accidentally plowed into one of the most handsomest and sexiest men of all time. With her wedding day still fresh on her mind, instead of apologizing, she was rude, sarcastic, and downright obnoxious, as the head of security, mumbled his sincere apologies. Jake Royale couldn't believe that he just lied his butt off, to the gorgeous brunette, but after overhearing a story, that this particular beauty hated rich men, he felt he had no other choice, for two reasons. First, he wanted to see more of her, regardless how she felt, and secondly, he was not only rich, but he was the owner of the hotel. With the Masquerade ball coming up, he would seize the opportunity like always, to wear his mask, sit back, and be himself, and maybe, just maybe, an opportunity may arise, where he can have some time with miss Kylie Edwards. Although he didn't know it at the time, but Jake was about to get his chance, when her idiot fiance shows up, begins manhandling her on the dance floor, given Jake the chance, to save Kylie and the day, as he has the jerk, escorted off the premises. When Kylie gets to know Jake, more and more, she realizes that she never wanted a man, like she wanted this one, and before they both knew it, they found themselves having a one-night stand, something she didn't think, she would be forgetting anytime soon. At least Jake wasn't, as the thought of Kylie leaving Vegas soon, tore at his heart, but what scared him more, was the fact, that he was about to have his next business appointment in his office, meeting interior decorator, Kylie Edwards, in the flesh! With his emotions on high alert, while trying to figure out what to do, this is one time, that Jake could really use a mask, to prevent him from losing the most important thing in his life....Kylie!.......Will Jake and Kylie survive the turmoil?..........an entertaining, yet intriguing love story....very enjoyable.....thank you....♡♡

I just couldn't

At first, I thought I just couldn’t finish this book, so when I first wrote my review, I had only whole heartedly made it through 33% on the Kindle version. But it’s rare that I do not finish a book, so I pushed through the absurdity of this one, and finished; though I mostly skimmed through the remaining 60-some % of the book. So my review is mainly based on the first third of the book, though I got the gist of the rest of the book, and it didn’t seem to get better.
First, it is written very poorly, bad grammar and very sophomoric all around. The characters are very immature; especially the way she handles the whole fianc� cheating is very juvenile, not the way she reacts, I get the depression, it’s the way she handles him, which is basically she doesn’t. The heroine makes random assumptions based on two brief meetings of the hero. The characters have no depth, mainly one dimensional, and they don’t evolve, ever. They say & act ways that just don’t fit or make sense, & there was no evolution to show us how they got there. I hope I’m not giving away too much, but Hero lies, Heroine finds out, Hero says I’m sorry, heroine is really hurt, Hero is like but I like you, heroine is like oh well than, ok. {sigh} REALLY!!! It really seems like a high school student wrote it. For specifics, see the spoiler alerts below.
***Spoiler Alerts*** Kylie’s hiding out in apartment depressed for a week, her two bff’s show up to drag her to Vegas, her one friend is an author and is attending a Romance Writers Convention there. This convention is conveniently held in the same hotel that has an appointment with Kylie’s big wig Fathers interior design firm to remodel it. So her two bff’s convince her CEO father to give the job to Kylie, which he does, now she has a reason to be in Vegas, to work. Kylie admits her father would have never have given her the job otherwise, his opinion isn’t too high of her, thank goodness for her friends convincing him. REALLY!?! A CEO of a major design company is going to be convinced by his daughters ( who he has no faith in) two best friends, LAST MINUTE! Now Kylie obviously has a rocky relationship with her dad, the CEO of a major design corporation, than her multi millionaire CEO fianc� of another major corporation cheats on her, so she deems all CEO executive types as bad people she needs to stay away from. So through mistaken identity, when she first meets Jake, she thinks he’s just some hotel employee named Macon and actually tells him “I’m so glad you’re not like those stupid stuffed suits. You’re helpful and actually care if you hurt somebody”. This is during their 3rd conversation EVER, she has only ran into him twice before, once literally and she was extremely rude to him that time. She doesn’t know him to say stuff like that. And lumping all CEO’s into one pile, very “mature” of her (sarcasm). Another quote “What is it with you CEO a55-wipe types”? again, the CEO hate I just wasn’t buying into it, she is a professional adult with a college degree, who not only works for, but works with, CEO’s as part of her career, again I just couldn’t ***END SPOILERS***
Basically, no I would not recommend this book to my friends. But that is just my opinion. If you like a simple, easy read, and you can let the technicalities go, you might like this book. And as far as the romance parts go, they weren’t that hot and pretty unoriginal, but again that’s just my opionion.

About the Author

Wallace R. Blischke obtained a B.S. in Mathematics from Elmhurst College, and M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Statistics from Cornell University. His early employment included aerospace and consulting firms. He joined the faculty of the University of Southern California in 1972, where he taught in the School of Business for 27 years. Dr. Blischke is currently Professor Emeritus, Marshall School of Business, USC, and is a private consultant specializing in data analysis, experimental design, sampling, reliability, quality assurance, warranty, and litigation support. He has over 50 publications in statistics, reliability, warranty analysis, and related areas, has co-authored or edited five books (three on warranty and two on reliability), and has presented papers and lectures at numerous conferences and universities on five continents. Dr. Blischke is a Fellow of the American Statistical Association and has served as Associate Editor of several scientific journals.

M. Rezaul Karim obtained Bachelor of Science (Honours) and Master of Science degrees in Statistics from the University of Rajshahi, Bangladesh, and a Doctor of Engineering degree from the University of Electro-Communications, Tokyo, Japan. For the last sixteen years he has been working in the Department of Statistics at the University of Rajshahi, Bangladesh, and is currently at the rank of professor. His research fields of interest are: quality and reliability analysis, warranty claim analysis, industrial statistics, bio-statistics, and statistical computing. He has considerable research experience in his fields, has published 15 papers in international refereed journals, and presented 20 papers at various conferences and workshops in seven countries. He has written a few chapters on warranty claims data analysis in such books as the Handbook of Statistics and the Encyclopedia of Statistics in Quality and Reliability. He served as an assistant editor of the International Journal of Statistical Sciences for two years and worked as a committee member of several international conferences and workshops on warranty and reliability modeling and analysis. He is a member of five professional associations.

D. N. Prabhakar Murthy obtained B.E. (Electrical Engineering) and M.E. (Applied Electronics) degrees from Jabalpur University and the Indian Institute of Science in India, and M.S. and Ph.D. (Applied Mathematics) degrees from Harvard University. He is currently Professor Emeritus at The University of Queensland. In the past he has held visiting academic appointments at several universities in the USA, Europe, Asia and Australasia.

Pra Murthy is the author or co-author of 165 journal papers and has presented over 150 papers at various conferences around the world. He is the co-author of six books, and the co-editor of three books and several conference proceedings. He has run short courses on various topics of reliability and warranty around the world and is on the editorial boards of eight international journals.

Warranty data collection

So far this book has been very interesting. I have just started doing this warranty analysis at work so this has helped bring a lot of things in perspective. It is technical at times with equations but looking forward to being able to do a better job by understanding more.
