Excellent User Manual of the Sony A7RII!

In this excellent publication most aspects of the new Sony A7RII camera are very systematically presented, discussed and explained in a professional way, and in an easy to understand manner.
It is amazing to see how the author managed to collect and present very extensive sometimes complicated information in an easy to use format!
A very well set up index makes it easy to find answers to most questions, whereby finding and selecting information in the e-book version is very easy.
I purchased the color printed version and the e-book.

In my view the book version is graphically not well set up and printed.
The page format is too small and the binding too inflexible for a book to contain +630 pages.
Also the paper stock used is in my view too heavy and not of perfect quality to print full color illustrations.
As a consequence its difficult to handle this book while reading and the color reproductions are, contrary to the ones in the e-book, too often of poor quality.
I wonder whether there is a need for such an expensive (+$100) printed full color version?
Anybody who wants to enjoy the A7RII to its full will find a great help in the e-book edition.

Top Notch Book

I am frequently disappointed with reference books I buy, but not this time! I purchased "The Complete Guide to Sony's A7RII" from Gary Friedman.

The book is carefully written and includes a technical perspective that is very helpful in understanding real world use of the camera and associated gear. Gary also provides free revisions to the book that improve content and keep the material up-to-date.

Gary has also provided comprehensive answers to questions I have emailed him. His products, in total, are the best of the best and highly recommended!

A great book written by a real rocket scientist! I learned a LOT more from this book than I could ever have learned reading the Sony manual or doing online research.

Insightful, Informative and Approachable

First, I must confess that I'm an oceanographer, not a policy expert. So my review is from the point of view of an informed and interested reader, not an expert in the field of environmental management. I took an Envirnmental Management and Policy graduate class from Andrews, and notes for the book formed the basis of the class reading.

The point of view of the book, following from the historical context of European colonialization to the modern enforcement of laws based upon primarily English and Spanish precedents, allows for an in depth understanding of how and why environmental policies are debated and put into practice. Due to it's focus on historical precedence, the reader is lead to understand why and how policy decisions are made today.

I highly recommend this book for anyone who is frustrated (either pro or con) by our current environmental policies. You will gain a wealth of insight into how and why environmental management polices are enacted. You may not like the current environmental policies, but this book will help you understand why our system works the ways it does.

Die beste Deon Meyer boek nog! Bennie Griessel is terug en nugter; ten minste aan die begin. Iemand "jaag en jag" 'n mooi jong vrou, en Kaptein Griessel moet haar kry voordat sy gevang word. Maar, Bennie is ook nou 'n mentor in SAPS, en daar's nog 'n moord op dieselfde dag in die musiekbedryf wat sy aandag aftrek. Hoe gaan hy twee moorde oplos en die jong vrou veilig hou in 13 uur?

Van die eerste bladsy wou ek net hierdie boek lees. My vrou het dit opgetel voordat ek klaar is, en nou baklei ons oor wie kans kry om dit te lees! Koop hierdie boek. Jy sal nie jammer wees nie.

Ek het geglo daar is net twee tipe afrikaanse boeke - polse sny Andre P Brink-erige boeke of verloor breinselle Ena Murray-rige boeke. Ek was verkeerd. Deon skryf 'n boek wat eg Suid-Afrikaans is. Die storie sowel as die karakters is realisties en daarby is dit waarlik 'n naelbyter. Alhoewel dit nie 'n bleeding heart boek is nie, word dit met deernis geskryf vir die karakters en hulle situasies.

I had not read Afrikaans for years but my sister persuaded me to read this book. I'm so glad she did! Deon Meyer has perfectly captured the Western Cape, its people, its language, and the trials, tribulations and also triumphs of today's South Africa. Then to top it all he gives us a well-plotted murder thriller with a nail-biting finish. It was a pure joy to read.

Chusa, a free-spirited and spontaneously generous young drug smuggler introduces Elena, a middle-class runaway, to the apartment she shares with her cousin Pepito and her boyfriend Alberto, a rookie policeman. The result is chaos in their previously disorderly but happy life. The comedy explores opposing lifestyles of young people in 1980s Spain, during a period of radical social change. It is characterised by humour, creative use of contemporary slang, and intertextual film references.

Duncan Wheeler's translation of the original play marks with footnotes the changes made in the new version done in 2008 for a high-profile revival to celebrate its twenty-fifth anniversary. This edition also includes an unpublished interview conducted by Duncan Wheeler with Alonso de Santos in 2010.

and then we bought our six year old a beautiful wooden castle

We are trying to hold off as long as possible on our kids watching the movies. Despite our "no movie for kids up through age ___" (yet-to-be-determined) policy, the Star Wars bug bit our 6 year-old. The whole series is palatable and not-to-scary, with decent artwork (thank god no pictures of lego figures--where is the creativity in that?!). Our solution to staving off the movies, and then we bought our six year old a beautiful wooden castle. Now Luke and Han are knights for real.
