About the Author
John E. Gamble is currently Associate Dean and Professor of Management in the Mitchell College of Business at the University of South Alabama. His teaching specialty at USA is strategic management and he also conducts a course in strategic management in Germany, which is sponsored by the University of Applied Sciences in Worms. Dr. Gamble's research interests center on strategic issues in entrepreneurial, health care, and manufacturing settings. His work has been published in various scholarly journals and he is the author or co-author of more than 50 case studies published in an assortment of strategic management and strategic marketing texts. He has done consulting on industry and market analysis for clients in a diverse mix of industries. Professor Gamble received his Ph.D. in management from the University of Alabama in 1995. Dr. Gamble also has a Bachelor of Science degree and a Master of Arts degree from the University of Alabama.

�A.J. (Lonnie) Strickland received a BS in Math and Physics from the University of Georgia, an MS in Industrial Management from Georgia Institute of Technology, and a PhD from Georgia State university. He currently holds the rank of Professor of Strategic Management in the Graduate School of Business at the University of Alabama. He has done extensive consulting and research work. In recent years, he was honored with the Outstanding Professor Award for the Graduate School of Business, and was the recipient of the Outstanding Commitment to Teaching Award for the University of Alabama.

hardcopy vs paperback

Be aware that the paperback is the Global edition of this book, which is very different from the hard-copy domestic edition. You can't really use the global edition to substitute for the other since it has different cases and text material.

Make Sure You Get The Right Version!!!!

This is the "Concepts and Readings" text.

There is another text that looks EXACTLY the same except for the subtitle.

That book is the "Concepts and Cases" text, and it ALSO has an 18e on it.

When your instructor assigns a case study, you'll be up a creek if you don't have the "Concepts and Cases".

I'm giving it one star because if they're going to make a third of the book have completely different content, they ought not to have the exact same title, edition number, and front cover illustration as the other version.

About the Author

Emory Douglas was the Black Panther Party's Minister of Culture and chief art director for the party's important newspaper for twelve years. In these roles, he gave visual dimension to the party's revolutionary message and mission, broadening the party's impact within a larger cultural framework. Sam Durant is a Los Angeles-based artist. Danny Glover, the accomplished actor, producer, and director best known for his Lethal Weapon movies, attended San Francisco State during the years the Black Panther party was active in the Bay Area. He's credited the party with having a profound influence on both his creative development and political consciousness. Amiri Baraka is a writer and political activist who lives in Newark, New Jersey. Kathleen Cleaver, attorney, author, and senior lecturer at Yale University and Emory Law School, joined the Black Panther Party in 1967. St. Clair Bourne is a veteran filmmaker. Colette Gaiter is an associate professor at the University of Delaware. Greg Morozumi is artistic director of the EastSide Arts Alliance in Oakland, California. Sonia Sanchez is a poet.

VERNACULAR SPECTACULAR!!!!!!!!!

Sometimes when images from newspapers or TV are taken out of context they can fall flat out of meaning or context. Not so for the revolutionary work of Emory Douglas. Douglas who was the Minister of Culture for the Black Panther Party from 1968-1980 and it's weekly newspaper artist amassed more works for the paper in a short period than most artists in a lifetime. But quantity is not the focus here but quality, growth and diversity. Emory Douglas is a prolific artist; his one page pieces included in the Black Panther newspaper were captivating and profoundly moved individuals all over the world no matter what language they spoke. His work has influenced every generation of artists/writers/activists who found their way into his work. It is interesting to note that while Emory's finished work was incredibly elaborate looking his tools of choice were simple pen, marker, tape and paper. His palette always represented and reflected the working class.

Black Panther: The Revolutionary Art of Emory Douglas focuses on many of Emory's best works and includes forward and texts from former Panther Chairman Bobby Seale, Kathleen Cleaver, Amiri Baraka (still NJ Poet-Lauriat in my book)and Danny Glover among a few.

A definite must for anyone and everyone!!!!!!!

Book is being re-issued in Feb. 2014!

Very glad to see that this book, which should have a much wider audience, is being re-issued by Rizzoli in early 2014. Emory Douglas was a passionate, talented artist. Without his work, the Panthers would have lost one of their best means of communication. He's a hero.

Another door opens

I liked that this book showed who Gator and Diamond were and how everything in this series binds together but I was really looking for the story about what happens next with Octavia, Damon and Tamara. I think that for these characters, Diamond and Gator, a new series could have been created...Gator tries to take out Diamond, she survives and so many more books could have come from her quest for revenge.
I've loved this series from the first book but have to admit that while this one was still a good read it threw me off of the Damon & Octavia storyline. All in all I still can't wait for book 7, just hate to think that it's the finale because I think there's so many more stories that can be told with all of these characters.

We meet Gator and Diamond and share in their love which ultimately turns into so much more. I personally like Diamond and I see where this may go in the next installment which I'm looking forward to. Thanks Mz. Robinson for the entertainment and I look forward to your next release.

This was such an awesome read from start to finish. The author's literary style pulls you in and you can't put the book down. The development of the characters was brilliant...the characters are vivid and real...you know them. You like them...you hate them...you pull for them. Gator was real about who he was from the beginning and he made it clear that when you become a part of his world there is no turning back. Those words should have been enough to let Diamond know that she should always proceed with caution because she knew who Gator was and what he was capable of doing.
I was still trying to go to the next page on my kindle when the book was over...what an ending!!!!! The Love, Lies & Lust Series is my favorite series and Mz.Robinson always delivers the goods. Buy the book and take the exciting journey with Diamond. Waiting on the next installment...

Interesting story

Despite the obvious inference from the title (particularly with both characters having had movies this year), this is not about the Marvel Comics characters, but rather about the Norse God and a US Army Captain in an alternate World War II that's still going on in the early 1960s. It was a quick read, but an interesting one. Loki is actually working with the US, which I enjoyed; while he's usually up to something in the Norse myths (gods of mischief are like that), he wasn't regarded as necessarily evil; Stan Lee and Jack Kirby did that more when they brought Thor into the comics.

Unfortunately, with a short story, there's not a lot you can say without spoilers. As someone who's read some of the comics as well (more importantly for the story) a fair selection of Norse mths, I thought it was an interesting idea, wel written, and for 99 cents, worth the price. I'd certainly buy more stories in this setting or along these lines.

About the Author
BRENDAN GOUGH is Lecturer in Qualitative Psychology at Leeds University. He was previously Lecturer in Psychology at Sheffield Hallam University. During his six years there he taught courses on Critical Social Psychology and developed research on masculinities. MAJELLA McFADDEN is Lecturer in Psychology at Sheffield Hallam University where she has worked for six years and teaches Critical Social Psychology. Her research is on female sexualities and includes project work with young women.
